Flooding Relief In South India

Southern India has been hit hard by flooding. The photos above show Gospel Prayer Temple Ministries (GPTM) in their efforts to provide relief to those who have found themselves hungry and homeless. Below is a letter from Pastor Barnabas:


Dear Brother/Sisters,

Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for all your kind prayers and support.

Our State of Andhra Pradesh, India had been severely affected due to the floods. Some of our Churches and believers are also affected in these floods. Due to this overflow the dams built upon the Krishna River could not control the heavy flow, which in turn took its own route into six districts such as Kurnool,Cuddapah, Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Guntur, Krishna etc. Hundreds of villages and towns were severely flooded with water, which either killed people or chased the people away from their own shelters and houses. Hundreds of thousands of people had to leave their houses which are filled with mud and water, to save themselves. They are now living in open places and few in tents. Even though Our State Andhra Pradesh has been feeding most parts of our country with rice, now it is in a pathetic condition of depending on others for rice due to these floods. All the Farmers are now without hope for their future survival.

By the Grace of God, we at Gospel Prayer Temple Ministries, Gudiwada have a taken a step of faith by getting involved in the relief activities among the victims of the flood. We are providing food, water, fruits etc. to the victims. Due to our limited resources we were only able to reach 4,000 people with food during 6th and 7th of October. Despite our being already involved in Orphan homes and Bible College Ministry at our campus, we still extended our help out of God’s Love.

The believers and pastors of Gospel Prayer Temple Ministries, who were badly affected, were also reached by us. We as a team of Bible College students, Staff and church elders have reached the areas of Puligadda, Avanigadda and R.Ananthavaram in two trucks. Our hearts were broken seeing the hungry people who came to us to receive the food packets. But after seeing them being satisfied with food, we Praised God for what God is doing in His people through our humble ministry.

However, hundreds of people are yet to be reached. We don’t know when or how things will change. We as God’s children who have tasted the love of God should extend our love through acts of sharing in their pain. We are also preparing to purchase rice, clothes, blankets and utensils for these victims. Please kindly remember our state Andhra Pradesh and our ministry as we continue to be involved in the relief activities, in your prayers.
